Thanksgiving for how far we have come and where we are headed

We in America should approach life with spirit of gratitude. Life is good for us, and for people who do appreciate their blessing and who live life with a spirit of gratitude, research reveals live longer.
Look at life here in America. Life expectancy continues to rise as does literacy. Our material goods work better and more efficiently than they did in the past and are constantly getting cheaper.. Our smart phones do amazing things in keeping us connected and informed. Data storage of all kinds is almost free; in fact it is on Google. Our appliances are far more efficient; since 1990 our dryers doubled their energy efficiency, and washing machine halved their energy consumption twice since 1990. They now take only 25% of the energy they did in 1990. And the increase in well-being affects everyone, even the poor. The poor today own more basic necessities and fancy toys than the average American did just 10 years ago. It is no longer possible to judge the wealth of a person by just looking at what they were, what they are using, what car they drive. Everyone i benefitting.
Even world-wide, things are getting better. Violence and war show a continual decrease over the decades in spite of governments almost neurotic need to militarily meddle in the affairs of foreign nations. And most importantly, the percentage of humanity living on a dollar a day has constantly decreased while global income inequality has decreased. America is the largest producer of goods for the world and as America produces more innovation and better products for the world, the amount of CO2 per unit of production and the cost of goods have both been steadily declining for the last ten years, the last 25 years, the last century, and the whole life of the country. Never before in the history of humankind has such trends occurred as they are at present.
Thanksgiving is a good time to remind people impatient with social and economic change who see only problems with our way of life, that in America things are steadily getting better and that trend will continue into the future. In spite of government corruption, payoffs and favoritism for big corporations, constant warring, the overall trend of society cannot be stopped for it is and will always be towards improving the human good.
